EIGHT STAR FOAL ACCUMULATOR

Open to pure breed Shire Horses born in 2019

Participating Shows :-

Honley, Arthington, Harthill Carnival, Woolley, Emley, Halifax, Keighley and Penistone.

Points will be awarded according to the placings of the foal in the foal classes – (classes may be split into filly and colt –  at each shows discretion).

Points awarded as follows:  1st – 5pts , 2nd – 4pts,  3rd – 3pts,  4th – 2pts , 5th – 1pt.

Points will be awarded over all 8 shows – but only the 7 highest placings from over all 8 shows will count towards the competition.

This accumulator competition is open to everyone.

Membership of any of the show societies is not required.

2nd Prize £100 – kindly donated by Messrs R & R Bedford of Hartcliff Shires.

BRITISH HEAVY HORSE GRASSROOTS CHAMPIONSHIP

Classes marked with * are qualifying classes for the Championship held at The Rare Breed of the Year Show at
Arena UK on the 5 th October 2019. The Championship is open to pure bred Shires, Clydesdale and Suffolk Punch
Horses whom must be registered in the Main Stud Book with the relevant breed society. NO stallions are allowed
as part of the Championship. The Championship is open to competitors and horses who have NOT competed in a
Horse of the Year qualifying class in 2019. The qualifying classes are aimed at NOVICE competitors and it is asked
that competitors enter the class in the nature that it is for. The highest placed novice in the relevant class will be

Class 14:     SHIRE HORSE OF THE YEAR SUPPORTED BY THE SHIRE HORSE SOCIETY QUALIFYING CLASS

This class is a qualifier for the Shire Horse of the Year Championship, to be held at the Horse of the Year Show 2nd – 6th October 2019 at NEC, Birmingham.

This class is open to pure bred fully registered Shires of 2 years old and over entered and exhibited in their appropriate breed classes at Penistone Agricultural Show.  All Shires must be entered under the registered owner’s name.

A Grandstand ID number will be required for the owner/handler/exhibitor and horse.

If you have not competed in the Horse of the Year Show qualifiers before, these numbers can be obtained by creating an account on www.grandstandentries.com.

Your entry will need to be completed on an official Horse of the Year Qualifier entry form.  This can be found at www.hoys.co.uk.  On receipt of your completed entry form, if your Grandstand ID numbers are not detailed, it will be held in a pending file until all of the Horse of the Year Show identification numbers are received.

The Horse of the Year Show contribution for 2019 is £13.00 which is payable by all competitors in Class 14.

The Shire Horse Society reserve the right to share your membership data with Grandstand Media Ltd in compliance with the Horse of the  Year Show (HOYS) Rules & Regulations. This sharing is for the purpose of HOYS matters to include, but not limited to, qualification or disciplinary.  For further details regarding the use of data for HOYS qualifiers, please refer to www.hoys.co.uk and www.grandstandentries.co.uk.

The Winner qualifies for the Midland Shire Foal Society Show, for the Young Handler of the year.

The Shire Horse Society will once again be running the Shire Horse Society Young Handler’s Accumulator Award 2019 (No prize money). Open to Shire Horse Junior Members only.

Points will be awarded to the top five as follows:  1st: 5 points, 2nd: 4 points, 3rd: 3 points, 4th 2 points

and 5th: 1 point.  Double points will be available at the Societies Working Horse Festival in the Autumn.

Class 17*:           British Ridden Heavy Horse Society Kilmannan Championship Equifest Qualifier.

Open to horses 4 years old and over that are registered in the main British stud books of the Shire, Clydesdale, Suffolk or Percheron Society at the time of qualification and must be entered in the name and ownership they are registered in.

Riders of Stallions must be 16 years or over.

The highest placed registered Shire, Clydesdale, Suffolk or Percheron in an affiliated ridden heavy horse class to qualify for the BRHHS Championship, qualification to go down no lower than third place.

Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Ridden Heavy Horse Championship to be held at Equifest 2020.  No entry fee.
