General

Closing date:FRIDAY 1st SEPTEMBER 2023 – late entries only on approval of the Cattle Secretary.

INSURANCE – All exhibitors MUST have Public Liability Insurance.

PRIZE MONEY – To be paid by BACS after the show.

PLEASE FOLLOW GATE A SIGNS FOR ENTRY ONTO THE SHOW GROUND

NOTE: All drivers are obliged to cooperate with the parking stewards.  Any vehicles not used for the transportation of livestock must be removed to the public car park.

The Penistone Agricultural show reserves the right to refuse entry to those who do not co-operate.

ENTRY TICKET ALLOCATION:

Exhibitor tickets to be issued on the basis of:

1 entry = 2 tickets, 2-4 entries = 3 tickets and 5 -6 entries = 4 tickets

Information & Guidance

Cattle to be on the Show Ground by 9.30am prompt and should not be removed from the Showground before 4.30pm.

JUDGING TO COMMENCE 10.00 AM

Cattle numbers available on arrival from the cattle passport steward.

Passports are required for all cattle.  Exhibitors are responsible for compliance with any DEFRA Animal Health regulations in force at the time of the show.

Cattle to be tied to allotted place

Hay and Straw will NOT be provided by the Show

Walkways must not be obstructed and exhibitors are to keep individual areas clear.

Exhibits must be available at the time stated for judging and every effort will be made to maintain the time-table but the Secretary/Stewards reserve the right to make alterations.

The Show reserves the right to amalgamate classes if entries are insufficient.

 ANTI TAMPERING

The use of tranquillisers, stimulants, or any drugs capable of affecting the performance or behaviour of animals is forbidden.

 

Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the show and that testing of all animals is at the owners’ risk.  Testing for forbidden substances will be carried out under veterinary supervision.

Champion and Reserve Champion in all Cattle Sections will be required to take part in the presentation of Trophies which will be held in front of the Cattle Tent at approximately 3.30pm.

 

Dairy Cattle

  • Class 7 – Supreme Dairy Champion and Reserve Dairy Champion

    Sash and prize money:  Champion £45 and £30 to the Reserve Champion

  • 10 – Dairy Heifer, handler to be aged between 17 – 26 on Show Day

  • Handling: 50%  
  • Turnout of handler 25%   
  • Turnout of Sheep:  25% 

The conformation of the animal will not be judged.  The Exhibitor MUST be able to handle the animal independently.
